First off, I must confess that I have thus far in my “blogging” career opted for silence rather than spreading my opinions to the world. I read blogs and even interact with other blogger’s posts, but have yet to contribute within my own delineated space. With the creation of my own website, however, I am compelled (mostly by the creator of the website) to share my individual insights with the “blogging world.” I am hesitant to present my thoughts outside of an academic setting because of a security in academia that resides in its tendency to reject/retain and forget/remember (a comforting ambivalent relationship) contributions made to its discourse; the internet, however, seems much too permanent and unforgiving. Therefore, I shall contribute, but please know it is with great fear and trepidation…
The point of this website is first and foremost a supplement to my academic endeavors. I am in the first year throws of my PhD program at Drew University. I plan to integrate information and technology into my longterm pedagogical goals with the gracious help of my husband (the creator of this website). I hope to bridge the gap between the academe (a highly politicized, locatable, and rich space of knowledge) with outside interests—whether they be personal, student, or peer related.

As the developer of this site I’m pleased to have the honor of leaving the first comment.
You are right to be cautious about what you place on the web because as they say, “removing content from the internet is about as easy as removing dye from a swimming pool.” Nevertheless, I think you will find the benefits more than compensate for the few potential negatives of contributing to the world wide web.
Despite being in the first year of your PhD I think you already have a wealth of information that will be of use to those of us outside the world of the academe, especially if it is presented in a form easily discernible by us common–folk *hint.* At the same time I suspect you’ll also find a worthy audience of peers eager to dialogue within your field(s) of study.

Hi Jenny, I found this blog when I was searching for the baby blog. Still can’t find the baby blog, but happy to find this! I left the link to my own blog. (:
